What is punctate distribution in human biology?

I understand punctate is having spots, points, or punctures but what is punctate distribution in human anatomy/biology?

In dermatology, punctate refers not to the distribution, but the fact that there are small individual lesions that may be found in groups. The location(s)/clustering of the small lesions is the distribution.

it can also describe the staining patern of intracellular vesicles such as endosomes and lysosomes.
