    You need to know human anatomy for anime, especially for things like complicated poses and related matters. You are drawing a person after all, and you need a basis.

    The only thing about anime that deviates is the exaggerated proportions. What I mean is that anime bodies usually have larger heads, feet, and hands, and tend to have different height-to-limb ratios. Those qualities are all part of the style, but take all that away and you have human anatomy.
